Heat Pump Installation in Lakeside
Our climate is heat pump country. Long, demanding summers and winters that are mostly mild with a few sharp cold snaps: that’s exactly the profile a modern heat pump handles best. One outdoor unit cools your house all summer, then reverses in winter to heat it for a fraction of what electric resistance heat costs.
Lakeside sits about 20 minutes north of our Springfield shop, an easy run up Route 9. We’ve installed heat pumps in homes from converted cottages along the Crescent Lake shore to conventional homes in the blocks behind it, and the technology has earned its place in every one of those housing types.
Modern Heat Pumps Aren’t the Old Ones
If you remember heat pumps that blew lukewarm air and gave up below 35 degrees, the equipment has moved on. Variable-speed inverter compressors hold output down to much lower temperatures, run quieter than most central ACs, and modulate instead of slamming on and off. Paired with backup heat strips for the rare hard freeze, a properly sized heat pump covers everything our winters can produce.
Sizing Is Everything
A heat pump has to be sized for both seasons, which is why we run a full load calculation before quoting. Oversize it for winter and it short-cycles all summer, leaving the house humid. We size for the cooling load, verify the heating balance point, and set the backup heat to engage only when actually needed. Your ducts get checked too, because a great heat pump on starved ductwork is just an expensive fan.
